Time Management: Time Management Rules That I Would Like To Follow

Posted by Willie on 27 Jun 2006 | Tagged as: Self Development, Time Management

Life these days is very complicated and intense. So many things need to be done and be completed on time at work and at home. Monday morning when I start my work week, and I look at the schedule for the week, at all the tasks and projects that I have to work on, my head starts spinning and I tell you, my friends, this is not a good time to talk to me. I understood that I have to do something about this. I started to go through time management materials on the web and in libraries and so far here is what I found that I think makes sense and that I will try to learn and follow. Here they are:

1) You can’t schedule creativity.

Our activity is various and that mean that we can’t measure it by the same rules. If everyday routine work that doesn’t need generation of ideas can and must be done by an accurate schedule and under approved procedures, the same rules are not appropriate for mind work – generating ideas or finding the answer to a complicated problem. Brain storming and discover alternative solutions needs different approach. A strict schedule for that kind of work just destroys the efficiency.

2) Sense the time.

The feeling of time comes slowly. It is possible to speed up this process, just imagine that your time is a very valuable item for investment. Would it be a pity to waste the precious “investments” for constant breaks from work because of all kind of small and unimportant occurrences? It is important to ask yourself similar questions more often, it helps.

3) Record all daily events.

Yes, I understand it sounds boring and useless. But to understand where you are losing valuable time it is necessary to catch somebody or something that takes that time away from you. You can only achieve that by carefully trucking the time of each event that happened during the day. Try to keep track of this for a month or at least for two weeks. You will see, the result will be shocking. For example, smoke breaks are tacking on about two hours, chatting with coworkers an hour - hour and a half, doing somebody’s job another forty minutes. The day is flying away just by the blink of the eye.

4) The chaos or the order.

Research shows that a certain level of parity between order and chaos gets more benefits for work than ideal order. We are created the way that during certain moments of our life we need to have some disorder. For example, it doesn’t make any sense to keep in order all your papers on a desk during work time but it is important to put things in order before leaving home. Especially consider that everybody has their own understanding about chaos and order. And if you are comfortable in working in a certain environment it will be silly to force yourself by trying to put things in order just because somebody wanted you to.

5) Don’t blend short and long term projects.

One of the most common mistakes in time management is a mixture of different level plans. There are projects that can be completed in a week, there are projects in a month, and there are strategic projects for year. The project’s completion needs to be planned based on the corresponding period and must be estimated accordingly. At the end of the week the weekly projects need to be reviewed, at the end of the month – the monthly, and so on. Project priority should be determined by completion time and importance of project. It makes sense to split the big project into many small ones because it easy to control and correct them.

6) You need a rest.

That employees work without breaks and weekends is the number one sweet dream of the majority of business owners. But even if such a way of work would be possible the efficiency of it will be very low. The way the human being is built, it needs 3-5 minutes of rest every hour, to get off from work and have a rest so to continue to be productive. Work without rest leads a person to exhaust the resources, and to restore them takes a much longer time and effort than just to have a 5 minutes break every hour.
The level of efficiency is reduced too. For the same time the worker performs a smaller volume of work with lower quality.

7) Think first – do later.

You probably heard the expression “Don’t rush to carry out the order, it could be canceled”. I‘ll say that this expression can be applied to time management too. I read a few articles about that strategy. The main idea is: to create an environment so it would be easier to reach the goal, practically by itself. For example: if a worker performs his job in time with top quality but he needs to have work hours from 11.00am to 8.00pm, so it is more efficient to let him work in this schedule than to try to teach him to start early in the morning. The same concept is possible to apply to some tasks. If the problem can be solved by itself and time allows waiting then it makes sense to wait. Use this time for some more valuable projects.

8) How to start your work day.

It is so hard to start the work day for majority of people but don’t consider this as laziness. We just need something that will boost us. Some experts suggest starting your day with a small treat that will bring you to a good mood. It could be a cup of tea or coffee, music, a small chat with a friend or coworker, etc. It is very important to find your own treat that will help you to start the day, especially if you need to work on an unpleasant problem. One of the ways of self-motivation is to start the day with the accomplishment of some small problem that gives you positive satisfaction and a good mood for the rest of the day.

At the end I would like to recommend to you the Super Tactics of Time Management Experts e-book. This book cost just $20.00. It has some interesting time management materials that are really valuable, especially for beginners. Trust me, by putting into practice some fundamentals from this book, it is going to help you not just to make more money but also to save time – your valuable time. We all know that time is money.

How To Reach Desirable Romantic Compatibility

Posted by Willie on 20 Jun 2006 | Tagged as: Marriage

Romantic compatibility is one of the major factors you need to have a strong family. According to research it is 50% of all significance, compared with other factors in a good relationship in the majority of young families. Romantic dissatisfaction in the life of even one of the spouses leads to internal conflict in the family. As statistics show, this reason is the most common divorce case in society.

This dissatisfaction is often covered by spouses by other fake reasons, such as a difference of character, mean behavior, etc. Sometimes they do this subconsciously, sometimes intentionally, just to keep prestige.

So, how do you reach desirable romantic compatibility?

In a romantic relationship between a man and a woman nobody except them can establish the measure and ethics of this in their relationship.
The intimate life is strongly tied with all parts of our life. It influences our working ability, mood, and of course the moral atmosphere in family.

It is necessary to remember that romantic compatibility without love is as weak a fire as with wet firewood. If the love disappears then the romantic compatibility sooner or later disappears too. Therefore romantic compatibility and love are indissolubly connected to each other in a family relationship.

Many women don’t properly respond to their husband’s initiative during romantic moments. They can’t accept some variation of romantic intimacy that their husbands offered them. They consider them as a deviation from the norm or even a distortion.

Each person has his own understanding about the acceptable norms in romantic intimacy.
In family, for the couple, those norms after some time transform to a form that is acceptable for both partners. The happiness of a couple’s life depends on how smoothly and patiently this process goes.
The characteristic of a woman’s romantic intimacy is different from men. Some men don’t understand that because of lack in their sexual education. Many women don’t need romantic intimacy sometimes but they go along with it just because of respect to their spouse. Not having an opportunity to receive physiological satisfaction for some time, women sacrifice themselves for a wish to receive in exchange the sensitive, care, and appreciation.
In fact in romantic intimacy for the woman the foreground is the man’s personality and not the man’s physical characteristics or different romantic techniques as a lot of men think.
Ignoring the romantic part of intimacy by some men can cause in women negative feelings. Such behavior in a romantic life can lead on occasion to development in the woman an antipathy to intimate life conditions. And the normal romantic compatibility can be destroyed forever.

For woman, it is necessary to remember that from the very beginning in a romantic relationship the success of intimate happiness consist in constant stimulation of the romantic atmosphere in family and the positive judgment of a man’s actions. Any criticism in this area simply is not acceptable. Positive judgment for a man is very important; any criticism can cause a deep and indelible insult.

As a result of the formed conflict there is a negative process that develops that destroys romantic compatibility. It’s turned into the necessity of the search for self-affirmation on the side and leads to an affair.

To the husband, don’t give an example of good romantic intimacy with women from your past experience. In the beginning of the relationship not all woman can receive pleasure from romantic intimacy, therefore don’t demand to show the passion from them right away. Be patient and after a while you will be rewarded.

And in the end you should know that romantic incompatibility in the pure state happens very seldom and as experts in this area consider, the reason is only in an impotence of the man or frigidity of the woman. In the rest cases this is just a made up thing, the result of misunderstanding and lack of knowledge in romantic intimacy and the family relationship area.

Six Methods To Improve Your Memory

Posted by Willie on 15 Jun 2006 | Tagged as: Self Development, Improve Your Memory

So, you wish to improve your memory. First of all you should know that a universal method to improve your memory doesn’t exist. There are many ongoing studies and tests being conducted to try and improve the quality of people’s memory. This work on memory improvement is helping people of all various age categories, starting from students that are preparing to pass tests and finishing with senior citizens that are taking care of their everyday needs. Any person can improve their memory. It doesn’t matter where he works and what he does.

There are special treatments and methods to improve memory. To use the entire portfolio of recipes is very difficult and is not necessary at all. Use only the one techniques that is most effective for you. Select a decent amount of them. If you choose only two or three methods, after a while they won’t work for you anymore. It is good if you select about ten methods and switch between them from time to time.

1. Method of external compensation:

a. Physical reproduction of conditions: it is easier to recall in the same place that
you memorized.
b. Mental reproduction of conditions: the same as above, but recollect
a background, a place, music, illumination, etc in the mind.
c. Tuning up trick: if the information is difficult to remember, try to repeat it
with different variations - loudly or silently, drawlingly or rapidly, with a
funny accent, knocking … .All of this tunes up the memory.

2. Method of shrinkage:

a. Use the base of the concepts: if you take and memorize the parts of the
concepts on which the text is built on, then it is easy to restore all
the concepts.
b. Fictional trick: write out and memorize the first letters of the words.
c. Editing: Put the text in more basic terms.
d. Material shrinkage: write out the text in your own words, making it as
compact as possible; sometimes with one word it is possible to replace
the whole phrase.
e. Block trick: make a block diagram using the principle of seven.

3. Chain method:

a. “Hook” trick: You have to connect (hook) new data with the data that is
available in your memory – by the sense, tune, color, or appearance.
b. Matrix trick: the material is carried to the table with a structure defined by you.
c. Semantic “tree”: the main idea becomes a tree trunk; the basic ideas are the
branches departing from the trunk (no more than seven), then go to small
branches obeying the principle of seven.
d. “City of knowledge “: for storage of varied information it is possible “to build”
a whole city; to recollect, we mentally travel in it.
e. Search in the chain: consistently go thought the parts of an imagined
chain in which the required information should be stored; having found in the
chain the missing part jump over it, pass forward and then come back; if you
still don’t remember the missing part - try to switch to a relaxation trick.
f. Search for the situation: when you see a person that seems familiar, you
search the various situations (on the street, in the building, in the college,
in the movie, etc.), and the information about this person will come out.

4. Method of contradiction:

a. The contrast background: come up with a bright background that creates
the effect of contrast.
b. Rephrase the contents in a paradoxical way: make a brief and metaphorical
formulation, for example, “the paradox is a quadrangular triangle “.
c. Select the opposite: find a meaning totally opposite to what you should
remember.
d. Absurd examples: absurd examples help to remember an essence.
e. Forget what you must remember: wishing to forget something we
concentrate our attention on it and as a result we remember it.
f. The relaxation: if within three minutes you can’t recall something,
relax your muscles for a few minutes and try to not think of it; the
relaxation helps practically everybody.

5. Logic method:

a. Search for the rules: find the rules that are easy to remember - semantic,
numerical, or rhythmical.
b. Use analogies: find to what the object is similar.
c. Trick of a logic conclusion: make a logical link of the object with familiar
information.
d. Modeling: make a logic links connecting the separate facts into one
system – a model for remembering.
e. Forecasting the consequences: Just imagine what will happen if you
forget the needed information.
f. Bring the solution to a logical end: you develop an idea contained in
the material further to its logical end.

6. Method of decorating:

a. The image of the material: you try to draw a picture about
the information.
b. Cast: (eight - the thick woman, seven – man with mustache,
etc.).
c. Empathy: the person mentally reincarnates in an object that easy
to remember.
d. “Smile”: search in the material for something cheerful.

Seven Basic Self Hypnosis Exercises

Posted by Willie on 06 Jun 2006 | Tagged as: Health

Self hypnosis is a method to relax independently, without any help from a psychotherapist. Additionally, it is also a skill to quickly adjust to any new situations.

For an actor is important to have the ability to quickly adjust to the role before he appears on stage, for a sportsmen before the start of the game, for a pilot before the flight.
This skill will help us better focus on the test, better drive a car, concentrate while giving a public speech, and in many other cases in our lives. If you will become the master of self hypnosis then you will be able to quickly remove pressure and stress from yourself. There will be enough 15-20 minutes for you to have a rest and restore your strength. You  can also learn to relieve pain without pills.

Here are the seven basic exercises:

1.    Exercise # 1 “Breath”.

Get into a comfortable position (lie or sit down); close your eyes; reflexively, as from the side, watch your breath, try to not control it.

This instruction looks very simple but it is not always easy to accomplish it.
Sometimes there is a temptation to extend a breath because during the exhalation the relaxation and rest is deeper. But it inevitably involves the deep breath breaking the harmony of the self hypnosis process.

2.    Exercise # 2 “Weight”.

Get into a comfortable position (lie or sit down) in “a driver position”; close your eyes, relax, passively, concentrate on the calmness. Then stay still and weakened, passively, concentrate on a weight on your right hand. Passively, sense this weight until you are tired of doing it.

While repeating this exercise the weight will be felt in others parts of your body too. Passively, sense it. Don’t try to speed up the feeling of this weight with your growing strong will. Any internal work will interfere with the occurrence of the self hypnosis condition - the special form of trance controllable by you.

If you exercise every day for 15-20 minutes then in two weeks you will be able to make those feeling of weight in all your body easily. After a while this weight will be replaced with lightness by itself. You will notice that you don’t feel your body for some time at all. Don’t be afraid of it.

3.    Exercise # 3 “Heat”

Arrange your hands so that they have are turned with palms facing each other, close your eyes, relax, and concentrate on calmness and heat which comes from your palms.
After you catch that heat, bring your palms to your cheeks. Feel that heat on your cheeks that is coming from your palms.

Your can increase the temperature of your hands’ skin to 2-3 degrees just by passive concentration of your mind.  Warm up your hands before doing this exercise otherwise it won’t work.  While you are exercising the heat will spread all over your body. When it happens, consider that you accomplished this exercise.

4.    Exercise # 4 “Solar plexus”

Close your eyes, relax, concentrate on the heat in the depth of the top part of your stomach. Imagine that you have a sun there. To get comfortable with the previous exercise, you are capable of concentrating passively on the heat of your body. The exercise “solar plexus” allows you to move that heat to any internal part of your body. The concentration on heat in your stomach normalizes the activity of parts of your digestion system. But this exercise is prohibited if you have any inflammations in the belly cavity, bleedings, or tumors.

5.    Exercise # 5 “Pulse”.

Sit down conveniently, relax, and close your eyes. Arrange your hands so that they have been turned with palms to each other, put the fingers of both hands together, feel on the tips of your fingers a pulsation that is caused by your hand.
From this exercise the pulsation will be felt in the other parts of your body too. Consider that the exercise is accomplished when you learn to feel the pulsation in your hands and other parts of your body.

6.    Exercise # 6 “Cooling Your Forehead”.

Close your eyes and relax. Passively concentrate on the cooled air that is adjoining your forehead.
This exercise allows raising the intellectual capacity of your mind and removing a headache. Do not aspire to feel a strong cold in your forehead; it can cause a spasm in your brain. The cool must be light.

7.    Exercise # 7 “Calmness”.

This last exercise, it is necessary to learn only after you are comfortable with all the previous ones.
Get into a comfortable position (lie or sit down) in “a driver position”; close your eyes, relax. Make the “breath”, “weight”, and “heat” exercises first, then passively concentrate on the calmness. Leave your self hypnosis by using the “cool your forehead “exercise.
Don’t force yourself to the “necessary” condition. The real effect comes only with passive concentration. Not trying to force what does not exist yet is the strength that creates the calmness in pursuit after it.

Those seven exercises are the basis of self hypnosis training. By learning them you will make the first step in the process of adjusting yourself to everything, learn to overcome easily and confidently various, even extreme, vital situations.
